Appointments

Routine Appointments

We aim to offer a routine appointment within 48 hours and within 24 hours for patients who feel they have an urgent problem. Due to fluctuating demands it is not always possible to offer an appointment with your usual doctor, however, you will be offered an alternative doctor.

In order to book a routine appointment with a doctor or nurse phone the surgery on 0844 477 8723. When booking to see a nurse you may be asked the nature of the problem, this is because all the nurses have different areas of expertise and a variety of time slots are required.

If you feel an appointment may not be necessary but you require professional advice please phone the surgery before 11am and a doctor will call you back the same day. Alternatively you may book an appointment for a telephone consultation. These are best suited for minor queries eg medication, sickness certificates, test results or minor illness.

Urgent Appointments

The doctor allocates 5-minute appointment slots for patients who have an urgent problem that cannot wait longer than 24 hours. The nurse also has allocated time available to see urgent problems.

Urgent problems may include moderate to severe pain, chest or urinary infections or deterioration of previously established conditions e.g. asthma.

A routine appointment is usually necessary for other problems such as review of ongoing conditions, stress related and emotional problems, medication issues and discussion of test results, as the doctor will require more time for discussion of these.

Emergencies
We are not an emergency service but we do have a daily doctor-on-call who can respond to unforeseen circumstances. However, if it is difficult to contact the surgery immediately, we recommend 999 is dialled.
