Practice Nurses

We have six practice nurses at the surgery. All the nurses are highly qualified senior nurses, their skills include:

    1. Minor Illness - diagnosis and treatment of coughs, colds, urine infections,
        conjunctivitis, ear infections, throat infections, gastroenteritis, exacerbations
        of asthma and hayfever.

    2. Contraception - Emergency and Repeat Prescriptions

    3. HRT - Repeat Prescriptions

    4. Smears - and counselling about results

    5. Incontinence - Problems and Ring Pessaries

    6. Chronic Disease - Follow Up - i.e. Heart Conditions, Asthma, Diabetes.

    7. Wound Care - Dressings and advice

    8. Ear Syringing

   9. Travel - Advice and Vaccinations

 10.  Smoking Cessation

 11.   ECGs and  spirometry.

Many problems you may feel you need to see the Doctor about can easily be dealt with by the nurse, please ask when you book an appointment.

Although most of our nurses can do all of the above, they also have specialist interests:

Jean Morgan - Senior Nurse and Diabetic clinics, Cardiovascular clinics

Tanya Rose - Respiratory clinics, Cardiovascular clinics

Clare Piper - Cardiovascular clinic, Diabetic clinics

Lynda Bruce -Diabetic Clinics, Cardiovascular clinics

Maria King - Diabetic Clinics, Cardiovascular clinics

 

Health Care Assistant

Jay Wagg is our health care assistant. She does blood tests and also performs ECGs and Blood Pressure monitoring. She also assists the nurses.

 

District Nurses

A District Nurse is a highly qualified experienced nurse who works in the community.

The District Nurses hold similar skills to the practice nurses however they deal with patients that are too ill or infirm to attend the surgery to see the Practice nurse.

The District Nurses can be contacted through Reception.

 

Health Visitors - Helping you to better health

The health visitors at the Emsworth Surgery are part of the team of health professionals who offer a comprehensive service to all ages.    They are registered general nurses who have further training in Child and Family Health; Child Development; Public Health and Child Protection issues.
